This winter has been a cold and windy one here in Eureka. For St. Patrick’s Day we battled the cold with a hearty beef stew that calls for Guinness in the recipe. It was delicious! I also made Yorkshire Puddings for the first time and they turned out wonderfully. Hooray for United Kingdom pub fare.
Joel got a week off for spring break… but since 1. the roads out of Eureka in every direction were bad due to the weather, 2. we are very far away from the larger cities where we would have conceivably gone for a break, 3. it was too cold to camp somewhere closer, and 4. we are broke, we decided to pitch the tent in our living room and camp here for the weekend.
S’mores on the stove are top-notch, even if the marshmallows don’t get the exact toasty effect from an open bonfire.
