This winter has been a cold and windy one here in Eureka. For St. Patrick’s Day we battled the cold with a hearty beef stew that calls for Guinness in the recipe. It was delicious! I also made Yorkshire Puddings for the first time and they turned out wonderfully. Hooray for United Kingdom pub fare.

Joel got a week off for spring break… but since 1. the roads out of Eureka in every direction were bad due to the weather, 2. we are very far away from the larger cities where we would have conceivably gone for a break, 3. it was too cold to camp somewhere closer, and 4. we are broke, we decided to pitch the tent in our living room and camp here for the weekend.

S’mores on the stove are top-notch, even if the marshmallows don’t get the exact toasty effect from an open bonfire.

Sarah grew up in Colorado but considers herself a Chinese-Malaysian-English-American. Her favorite thing to do is read in bed, or some sunny spot on a couch.

Just another fog-bound Eureka dweller stopping by to say hi. I LOVE stumbling onto blogs featuring good looking food – any chance of posting the recipe to your lovely looking stew?

What a creative idea to camp in the living room – when life gives you lemons…make a lemonaid tent!

When Jacinda put up the christmas tree the first year we were married we decided to sleep in the living room out under the christmas tree the first night…kind of the same thing. But we forgot the smores…that was a nice touch on your part.

That’s awesome!! Too fun. Maybe we should try it too, sometime. We did camp out on our futon in front of the fireplace this winter when it was really cold, which was fun. Kind of like camping out only without the tent.

      Hi Joel and Sarah,

I was just missing you guys, so I thought I’d swing by your blog to say “Hi.” So, “Hi.” :) I wish we could camp in your living room with you.
