We’ve got some classes goin’ on!

Joel’s taking: Linguistic and Rhetorical Approaches to Writing (history of classical rhetoric, how rhetoric and linguistics are related to teaching writing, I guess?); Development of Writing Abilities (a lot of stuff about rhetoric, genres, something called “Textual Intervention,” active learning, small group collaboration, improvisation, and dramatism – whew!); Problems of Aesthetics (your guess is really as good as mine, but it’s a literature class and we are reading Middlemarch, which is really good). I’m also writing my thesis but haven’t really gotten started.

Sarah’s taking: an aerobics class at College of the Redwoods. As far as I know she’s totally getting in shape! (Although she’s only had one class so far.)

We’re both taking Chinese for Travelers, as I mentioned before, and trying to move beyond ni hao and xie xie.

Sarah grew up in Colorado but considers herself a Chinese-Malaysian-English-American. Her favorite thing to do is read in bed, or some sunny spot on a couch.
