I can’t believe how fast things are moving, and as summer approaches so does our time to leave Eureka. In a somewhat fortuitous turn of events, we’ve talked our friends Dave & Anna into moving into our apartment, which is pretty great. I’m glad the place will be inhabited by friends and not strangers. It seems weird though, that life will move on here in this little town after we’re gone.

Besides planning for our future, we’re still taking classes. I’m still running every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the community college, and now that the weather is fairly consistently non-rainy it’s been a real pleasure to do some low-pressure cross-country running. Here’s a bird’s eye view of the path that I run, which apparently is 1.83 miles:We’re also progressing (albeit VERY slowly) in learning Mandarin. It’s been quite a fun time, and very satisfying actually recognizing words and phrases in sentences. With that said, we have a looong way to go before we can have a normal conversation with a native speaker. Oh well… I figure we’ll get the rest with immersion in a few months!

Joel’s got three weeks of school left… which seems like such a paltry amount of time compared to how we were feeling this time last year. It seemed as if we’d never get to this point, and here we are! I’m looking forward to new things!
