That’s what everyone’s been saying about China.

And by golly, I’m starting to believe them.

Thanks to Sarah’s application frenzy this weekend, we’re now in communication with about 5 to 10 universities who are interested in hiring us. Things are starting to happen. It’s hard to know what the best decision is. We don’t have any guanxi with any of the schools we’re talking to now, but they’ve all been really friendly and open about answering questions. Most have provided contact info for other foreign teachers — I suspect emailing some of them will help us decide.

Right now we’re mostly looking at schools in Zhejiang (east coast, the major city, Hanzhou, is a 3 hr train ride from Shanghai) and Sichuan (kind of in the “middle” of China) provinces, but we’re open to others.

Have you been to China? What’s your favorite city? We’re informally surveying everyone we know who’s been…

Zhongwen kaoshi mingtian! Women xuyao xuexi…

Sarah grew up in Colorado but considers herself a Chinese-Malaysian-English-American. Her favorite thing to do is read in bed, or some sunny spot on a couch.

As far as cities go I like Kunming. It’s called the spring city for it’s mild weather year round. The province it’s located in has a lot of minorities and a lot of culture.
