We’re in Spokane, our temporary home for the summer. Sarah is busy working on painting furniture and rooms in my parents’ house; I am working on lots of freelance writing projects and trying to help Sarah get all our stuff organized, including the nightmare that is our filing cabinet and my last two years of papers from school. We just took Sarah’s first trip to Montana for my Grandma’s 80th birthday party, so it was cool for Sarah to be able to meet everyone on that side of the family. I’m the oldest cousin and man, my younger cousins have totally grown up. It’s crazy. They’re all teenagers now.

We have a big trip planned for July, going to Humboldt County for Dave and Anna’s wedding, Southern Oregon for a camping trip with Nathan and Christy, and visiting Victoria and Vancouver, BC with Sarah’s parents.

In China news, this is making me really excited (and hungry) about Shaoxing.

We have a tentative departure date the third week of August, and have gotten word we’ll be living in an extremely awesome apartment. One thing we haven’t been focussing on too much is actually preparing to teach…time to dig out those Doug Brown books and start reading!

Sarah grew up in Colorado but considers herself a Chinese-Malaysian-English-American. Her favorite thing to do is read in bed, or some sunny spot on a couch.
