    Joel says:

The Olympics opening ceremony is tonight. I don’t consider myself a very patriotic person — I mean, I like America and everything. (When I was in the third grade we had to do an assignment about “why I’m proud to be an American,” and I wrote that it was because “we were first on the moon.” Seriously — what else is there?)

Anyway, since then my enthusiasm for my country has waned, but I will tell you this: I am gripped with an irrational desire for America to completely win everything at the Olympics, especially if it means beating China. I really like living in China, but…well…I just want the USA to kick some butt.
