    Joel writes:
Today’s conversation of the day (loosely translated from Chinese)

    2 Starbucks employees talking.

Woman: My English name is Susan.
    Man: I’m Evan.
    Woman: Egan?
    Man: Evan.
    Woman: Edan. Sounds good.
Man: Susan, Susan…what does “Susan” mean?
    Woman: I don’t know.
Me (eavesdropping): We foreigners have no meaning. If a name sounds good, we like it.
Man: Oh. You know, meanings are really important for Chinese names.
    Me: Yeah, I know.
